Tangshen is the dried root of Codonopsis pilosula (Franch.)
Nannf., Codonopsis pilosula Nannf. var. modesta (Nannf.)L.
T. Shen or Codonopsis tangshen Oliv. (Fam. Campanulaceae).
Action:
To reinfrce qi and invigorate the function
of the spleen and the lung.
Indications:
Weakness of the spleen and the lung manifested by
shortness of breath, cough, palpitation, anorexia, loose stools;
diabetes caused by inernal heat.
Precaution:
Incompatible with Rhizoma et Radix Veratri.
