Fruit is the dried ripe fruit of Trichosanthes kirilowii
Maxim. or Trichosanthes rosthornii Harms (Fam.Cucurbitacea
e).
Action:
To remove heat
and eliminate phlegm, to alleviate chest pain, and to facilitate
bowel movement.
Indications:
Cough with thick purulent sputum; angina pectoris and
stuffiness sensation in the chest; mastitis, lung abscess,
appendicitis; constipation.
Precaution:
Incompatible with Radix Aconiti and allied drugs.
