Reed Rhizome is the fresh or dried rhizome of Phragmites communis Trin. (Fam. Gramineae

Action: To remove heat,to promote the production of body fluid ,to relieve emesis, and to alleviate dysuria.

Indications: Dire thirst in febrile diseases; vomiting or retching due to heat in the stomach; heat in the lung with cough; lung abscess; urinary infection with difficult painful urination.

Dosage: Of the fresh rhizome to be decocted or pounded for juice.
