Poppy Capsule is the dried pericarp of ripe fruit of Papaver somniferum L. (Fam. Papaveraceae).

Action: To relieve cough, to arrest diarrhea, and to alleviate pain.

Indications: Chronic cough; chronic diarrhea with prolapse of the rectum; epigastric and abdominal pain.

Precaution: Long-term administration is prohibited for prevention of addiction.
