Nacre is made of the shell of fresh-water clams, Hyriopsis
cumingii (Lea) and Cristaria plicata (Leach) (Fam.
Unionidae) or peral oyster, Pteria martensii (Dunder)
(Fam. Peteriidae) by calcination after removal of the curticle.
Action:
To subdue hyperactivity of the liver, to
calm the nerves, and to improve vision.
Indications:
Headache, dizziness, fidgetness and insomnia; inflammation
of the eye due to heat in the liver; blurred vision in deficiency
conditions of the liver.
Usage : To
be decocted before other ingredients.
