Lotus Seed is the dried ripe seed of Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn. (Fam. Nymphacaceae).

Action: To tonify the spleen, to relieve diarrhea, to replenish the kidney, to arrest seminal emission, and to nourish the heart, to induce tranquillization.

Indications: Protracted diarrhea due to hypofunction of the spleen, seminal emission, leukorrhagia; palpitation, insomnia.
