Ground Dragon is the dried body of Pheretima aspergillum (E. Perrier),Pheretima vulgaris Chen, Pheretima guillelmi (Michaelsen) ,or Pheretima pectinifera Michaelsen ( Fam. Megascolecidae). The former one species is known as ¡°Guang Dilong¡°, and the latter three species are known as ¡±Hu Dilong¡°.

Action: To remove heat, to arrest convuisions, to remove obstruction from the collaterals, to relieve asthma, and to cause diuresis.

Indications: High fever with impaired consciousness, convulsions; arthralgia, numbness of the limbs, hemipiegia; cough and asthma due to heat in the lung; edema and oliguria; hypertension.
