Dogbane Leaf is the dried leaf of Apocynum venetum L.
(Fam. Apocynaceae). The drug is collected in summer,removed
from foreign matter, and dried.
Action:
To subdue hyperactivity of the liver and
soothe the nerves, to remove heat, and to induce diuresis.
Indications:
Dizziness, palpitation and insomnia due to hyperactivity
of the liver; edema with oliguria;hyperten-sion; neurasthenia;
nephritic edema.
