Dandelion is the dried herb of Taraxacum mongolicum Hand. -Mazz. ,Taraxacum sinicum Kitag. or several other species of the same genus (Fam. Compositae).

Action: To remove toxic heat, to cause subsidence of swelling and nodulation, and to relieve dysuria.

Indications: Boils and sores, mastitis, lymphadenitis, inflammation of the eye, sore throat, lung abscess, appendicitis, jaundice caused by damp-heat, urinary infection with difficult painful urination.

Usage : For external use, appropriate quantity of the fresh herb to be pounded into paste for topical application or made into hot decoction for fumigation and irrigation.
