Cuttlebone is the dried internal shell of Sepiella maindroni
De Rochebrune or Sepia esculenta Hoyle (Fam.
Sepiadae).
Action:
To stop bleeding arrest seminal discharge
or leukorrhea, to inhibit gastric secretion, and to promote
the healing of wound.
Indications:
Peptic ulcer with hyperacidity; spitting of blood,
epistaxis, abnormal uterine bleeding, hematoch- ezia; seminal
emission, spermatorrhea; morbid leukor- rhea; gastric pain
with acid regurgitation; external use for traumatic bleeding
and wound with purulent discharge.
Usage:
For external use, appropriate quantity to be ground into powder
and applied topically.
