Bistort Rhizome is the dried rhizome of Polygonum bistorta L. (Fam. Polygonaceae).

Action: To remove toxic heat, to promote the subsidence of swelling and to arrest bleeding.

Indications: Dysentery with bloody stools, diarrhea in acute gastroenteritis, acute respiratory infection withcough; carbuncles, scrofula, ulcers in the mouth and on the tougue; spitting of blood, epistaxis, hemorrhoidal bleeding, venomous snake bite.

Usage: Appropriate quantity for external use.
