Snakegourd Root is the dried root of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim. or Trichosanthes japonica Regel (Fam. Cucurbitaceae).

Action: To remove heat, to promote the production of body fluid, and to facilitate the drainage of pus and the subsidence of sweelling.

Indications: Thrist in febrile disease; dry cough due to heat in the lung; diabetes caused by internal heat; sores and abscess.

Precaution: Incompatible with Radix Aconiti and allies drugs.
