Achene is the dried ripe fruit of Arctium lappa L.
(Fam. Compositae).
Action: To dispel wind-heat
and relieve cough, to promote eruption, to counteract toxicity,
and to soothe sore throat.
Indications: Cough and
expectroation in influenza or upper respiratory infection;
measles; rubella; sore throat; mumps; erysipelas, carbuncles
and sores.
