Sources:The
fruits and rhizome of Trichosanthes Rirlowii Maxin.

Constituents:
Containing trichosanthin, starch, saponin, amino acids, saccharide,
etc.
Actions:Refined
trichosanthin, I and crystal of trichosanthin II , in vitro,
their IC50 were 16ug/ml and 3.3ug/ml. Trichosanthin treating
group 5mg/kg administered intraperitoneal, 30 EAC tumor bearing
mice within 20 days after tumor inoculation, the death rate
was 13.3%, but in control group, the death rate was 100%,
The crude dry preparation or water extract of the herb administered
orally, its anticancer effective rates were 40.4% and 30.9%.
Indications:It
could be used for treatment of breast, lung, gastric and pancreatic
cancers.
(1) It has been used for treatment of
18 cases of chorioadenoma, CR 17. In 15 cases of choriocarcinoma,
CR 11. The herb combined with chemothera- py and surgery,
48 cases of chorio-epithelioma were treated, 47 cases were
CR, the curative rate was up to 97.9% and among them 7 cases
were treated with the herb only.
(2) The injection preparation of the
herb. Before injection of the drug, 0.1ug of it was used for
skin test (if the reaction was negative, then it can be administered
with iv-drip), after 25mg of phenergan was given orally, 10mg
of the herb preparation put in to 500ml of N.S. and then administered
with iv-drip for 4~6hrs, 3~5 times injectins was one course
of treatment. The interval between twice injections was 5~7
days; 16 cases of choriocarcino- ma were treated, the results
showed that CR 8 , death 1, the remission rate was 88.8%.
In 11 cases of chorioadenoma, the remission rate was 100%.
