Sources:The
bark and leaf of Taxus chinensis (Pilger) Rehd. Family
Taxaceae.
Constituents:
Containing taxol, taxine, taxinine and taxusin, etc.
Actions:Taxol
has higher anticancer activity, in vitro, it inhibited significantly
growth of P388, L1210, HL-60, p1534 leukemia cells and B16,
human ovary cancer cells. In vivo, it was quite effective
against B16, and MX-1 breast murine tumors and has some antitumor
activity against CX-1, LLC and S180, as well.
Indications:Taxol
can be used in many kinds of cancers. In 1992, it was licenced
by FDA in U. S. A., used for treatment of advanced ovary cancer
and in 1994, has ben used in the treatment of breast cancer,
in addition, taxol singly or combined with other drugs used
for treatment of lung, head and neck, soft tissue and digestive
tract cancers. The three kinds of better treatment programmes
are as follows: (1) 30mg/m2,iv, was maximal tolerant dose/
daily, once a day, continuing for 5 days,a treatment course
was 3~4 weeks.(2) the maximal tolerant dose was 170~200mg/m2,
(IV.perfusion 6hrs/every 3 weeks). (3) the maximal dose was
250mg/m2, intravenous perfussion administration for 24 hrs/every
3 weeks. The effective rates for ovary and advanced breast
cancers were 20%~36% and 56% respectively.
