Sources:The
mature seeds of Strychnos nux-uomica L. Family Loganiaceae.
Constituents:
Containing strychnine, brucine, etc.
Actions:In vitro,
it was effective against S180 and leukemic cells, the decoction
of the herb at higher concentration of 0.3~0.7mg crude herb/ml,
inhibited mitosis of lympho cells, but in lower concentration
of 0.1~0.2mg crude herb/ml, promoted the mitosis of lympho
cells.
Indications:It
could be used for treatment of esophageal, gastric, cervical,
breast, skin cancers and leukemias. The tincture of strychnos
Nux-vomica (containing strychnine 0.119~0.131g/ml) was used
at dose 0.5~1.0ml/ once, b.i.d, administered orally, 54 cases
of esophageal cancers were treated, the effective cases were
45, no effect 5, PD 3, death 1, the total effective rate was
83.3%.
Its composite prescription "Ma Huang
Tang" was composed of :
Strychnos Semen strychni 0.9g
Radix et Rhizoma Rhei 30g
Herba Galii Teneri 30g
Herba Scutellariae barbatae, 30g
Herba Hedyotis diffusae 30g
Rhizoma Amorphophalli 30g
It was decocted with water, one dose/a day (one dose for twice)
combined with Ara-14 cases of acute leukemias, in which 8
cases were CR or PR, 6 cases were NC, the total effective
rate was 57.1%[15:503].
