Sources:The
rhizoma of Smilax glabra Roxb. Family Liliaceae.
Constituents:
Containing saponin, tannin, alkaloids, volatile oils, sitosterol,etc.
Actions: In vitro
test showed that 500ug/ml hot water infusion of the herb has
inhibitory cation against JTC-26 cell line, the inhibitory
rate was 100% in contrast with 5ug/ml BLM the inhibitory rate
was60 %. In addition, the extract of the herb has inhibiting
growth effect against S180 and human cervicar carcinoma cells.
Indications:It
was used for treatment of lymphatic cancer, osteo carcinoma,
leukemia, etc.

The decoction of the herbs was taken
daily to trear 4 cases of lymphatic cancer. The symptoms of
the patientsdisappeared and the patients survived for a few
years.

The decoction of the herbs was taken,
divided into 2 times, once daily to treat 18 cases of leukemia.
The clincal result showed that CR, PR. inprovement and inefficacy
were in 10, 4, 2 and 2 cases respctively and the total effective
rate was 88.9%.
