bulb of Smilax china L. Family Liliaceae.
Constituents:
Containing parillin, smilacin, etc.
Actions: The herb
has action against various tumors on mice and rats. The inhibitory
rates were 30% to 50% for S180, over 50% for B-22. The life
prolonging rates were about 50% for S37 and Yashida sarcoma
(ascitic type). The extract of the herb produced by Japan
has inhibiting tumor action. For S180, inhibitory rates were
67.1% and 28.9% with hot water extract and alcohol extract.
Indications:The
tablets of the herb (0.5%/tablet) were taken to treat mainly
on esophageal, cardiac, gastric, intestinal, hepatic, pancreatic
and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The drug was used to treat 60
cases at Shanghai, the result showed that it has certain action
of tumor remission. The drug treated 1 case of esophageal
cancer in Hunan Province, the patient survived for more than
4 years.
