root and rhizome of Sinopodophyllum emodii (Wall.) Ying
[Podophyllum emodi Wall. ex Royle, P. emodi var. chinense
Sprague] Family Berberidaceae.
Constituents:
Containing Podophyllotoxin, demethyl-Podophyllotoxin, quercetin,
kaempferol, etc.
Actions: Podophyllotoxin
was effective against acute leukemia, lymphoma, adenoma, melanoma
and KB cell line. It is cell cycle specific drug.
Indications:Podophyllotoxin
was used for treatment of cervical cancer, local application,
after 7~14 days was remarkable efficacy, the effective rate
of VP-16 was 20%~65% for patients without having chemotherapy.
