Sources:The
inter shell and Sepia of Sepia esculenta Hoyle. Family
Sepiidae.
Constituents:
Containing 5HT, polypeptides in the fresh sample, in addition,
containing melanin and mucopolysaccharide.
Actions: When
the mucopolysaccharide was administered to mice implanted
with fibropcarcinoma cells, in 8/10 of mice, the tumor was
disappeared and the survivcal rate was 60%~80%, while the
mice in the control group all died . TNF in sera from BALB/C
mice treated with Sepia was detected by L929 cell killing
assay. The results showed significant TNF-inducing activity
of Sepia in aniamls and the induced sera wee also cytotoxic
to human cancer cells, such as GM803 and Y99. in additon,
the Sepia was effective against Meth A and S180, the inhibitory
rate was 95.5% and 73.9% respectively.

prescription for esophageal, pancreatic, chorioepithelial
and cervcal cancers:
Ootheca Mantidis 18~30g
Os Sepiae 18~30g
Radix Aristolochiae 18~30g
Semen Viticis Negundo 500g
All the above herbs were ground into
powder for oral administration 6~10g each time, 3 times a
day. 1 cases of esophageal cancer, the size of his lesion
was decreased,the symptoms markedly relieved and survival
term reached to 3 years after taking 80 doses of the prescription.
