Sources:The
rooots of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi Family Labiatae.
Constituents:
Containing baicalin, wogonosifr, wogonin, flavone,etc.
Actions: The tests
in vivo, showed that the alcohol and hot water extracts of
the herb have inhibitory effect against S180, the inhibitory
rates were 37.7% and 11.5% respectively. The inhibiting rate
of hot water extract was 100% against JTC-26 cell line, but
has strong inhibitory effect against normal cells in vitro.
In addition, the water solution of the herb of 10ug/ml administered
for 2 days, possessed cytotoxic effect to HL-60 cell line.
Indications:It
was used for treatment of lung, nasoparyngeal, breast cancer
and leukemia, etc.
(1)Composite prescription for treatment
for acute leukemia:
Radix Scutellariae 10g
Fadix Gentianae 10g
Fructus Gardeniae 10g
Carlis Aristolochiae Manshuriensis 10g
Radix Angelicae Sinensis 10g
Radix Rehmanniae 10g
Radix Bupleuri 10g
Polyporus 10g
Rhizoma Alismatis 10g
Caulis Spatholobi 30g
Radix Saluiae Miltiorrhizae 30g
The decoction of above herbs was taken
to treat 26 cases of acute leukemias. The results showed that
CR and PR were 14 and 10 cases ,the total responsive rate
was 92.3% and 13 cases survived over one year and 3 cases
survived over 2 years.
(2) Man Xing Wan (pill) was used for
chronic granulocytic leukemia. A pill of 3g containing:

The pills were taken to treat 12 cases
of chronic granulocytic leukemia with a dose of 4.5 to 9g
(treating dosage) or 3 to 6g (maintaining dosage) daily. The
results showed that CR, PR, improvement and ineffect were
in 6 , 1, 4 and 1 cases respectively, the total responsive
rate was 91.7%.
