Sources:The
rhizoma of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. Family Solanaceae.
Constituents:
Containing iridoid glycoside,such as catalpol, b-sitosterol,
mannitol, campesterol, stchyose, rehmannin , etc.
Actions: The animal
tests showed that the composite prescription "Liu Wei
Di Huang Tang" (decoction of six drugs including Rehmannia)
has inhibitory action against proventriculus squamous cell
epithelioma induced by nitroso-N-methyl-urethane on mice.After
nitrosamines has been taken for 200 days, the rates of animal
tumor occurrence in contrast and decoction taken groups were
57.1% and 16.7%. The decoction also has life prolong- ing
action against U14 tumor bearing mice. In addition, the drug
possessed enhancing action to immunity of organism, such as
promoting lymphoblast transformation, increasing T cell counts
and strengthening phagocytic function of reticuloendothelial
system.
Indications:It
was used for treatment of lung ,bladder and esophageal cancers,
etc.

Radix Ophiopogonis 12g
Radix Scrophulariae 12g
Radix Astragli 20g
Radix Codonopsis 20g
Radix Rhapontici 30g
Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae 30g
Herba Houttuyniae 30g
Rhizoma Cimicifugae 30g
The decoction of drugs was taken, divided
into 2 times daily to treat 50 cases of bronchial lung cancer.
The clinical results showed that remarkable effective and
effective cases were 3 and 34, the total effective rate was
74%, and the patients survived over 1 year were 22 cases,
over 3 years were 4 cases, over 5 years were 1 case. Thedrug
has actions against squamous cell epithelioma,adenocarcinoma,
undifferentiated carcinoma, and cancer of undetermind type.
The lymphocytic transformation rate of the patients treated
with the drug was raised remarkably.
