of Rabdosia rubescens (Hemsl.) Hara (Plectranthus rubescens
Hemsl.) Family Labiatae.
Constituents:
Containing rubescensine, etc.
Actions:Rubescensine
has anticancer action against EAC, S180, HepS and ARS murine
tumors. In vitro, it has cytotxicity activity against CaEs-17
human esophageal cancer cell line, at 2 and 3ug/ml, the inhibiting
rates were 40% and 75%.
Indications:It
could be used for treatment of esophageal, liver cancer and
leukemia. The tablet of the herb was 5g crude herb/tab, 2~3tabs/once.
t. i. d administered orally for treatment cancers. The results
showed that, the symptoms were relieved, the tumor size was
stable or reduced, the life span was prolonged. 43 cases of
esophageal cancer were treated in Henan province, the effetive
cases were 15, the effective rate was 34.8%, 25 cases of cardiac
cancer, effective cases were 10, effective rate 40%. 7 cases
of esophageal cancer, effective cases were 2, effective rate
was 28.6%. 50 cases of various kinds of cancers were divided
into two groups, 36 cases were treated with the herb only,
1 case was PR, 12 cases were MR, the total effective rate
was 36.1%, 14 cases were treated with the herb combined with
chemotherapy, 1 case was PR, 8 cases were MR, the total effective
rate was 64.3%. The curative effect on breast cancer of the
drug
could be considered best. In addition, granular, syrup and
injection preparation were same as tablets.
31 cases of primary liver cancer were
treated with various kinds of preparations of the herb. The
syrup (1:1 concentration)30ml/once, t. i. d.1 ~3 months were
one course of treatment. The injection preparation, 75~100mg/once,
disolved in 5%~10% glucose 500ml with iv-drip; rubescensine
tablets, 5 tabs/once, t. i. d, one course of treatment was
2 months. The results showed that 27 cases have been followed
up, their survival rate of 0.5 year was 29.6%, 1 year was
12%, 2 years 10%. In general, the improving of symptoms, prolonging
life span and certain curative action were obtained, no significant
toxicity was found.
