Sources:The
fruits of Polygonum orientale L. Faimly polygonaceae.
Constituents:
Containing orientine , orientoside, vitexin , plastoquinone,
b-sitostertol, etc.
Actions: Studies
in vitro showed that the herb had inhibitory action on cancer
cells. Experiments in vivo revealed that administration of
the decoction , tincture or petroleum ether extract of herb
to mice by oral perfusion for 10 days in succession showed
that it had certain unsteady inhibition on the solid and ascitic
EAC and Sarcoma-180 of mice.
Indications:Composite
prescription as follows.
(1) For cancer of the thyroid:
30 grams fresh Fructus Polygoni Oriental
was decocted and taken daily , while a suitable amount of
the herb was pulverized into a paste for external application.
(2)For hepato splenomealy of chronic
leukemia:
Fructus Polygoni Orientalis 30g
Natrii Sulfas 30g
Camphora 12g
Semen Persicae 12g
Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga 12g
Rhizoma Arisaematis 15g
Rhizoma Pinelliae 15g
Squama Manitis 15g
Rhizoma Sparganii 15g
Semen Vaccariae 15g
Semen Sinapis 15g
Radix Aconiti 15g
Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii 15g
Rhizoma Typhonii 9g
Rhizoma Corydalis 9g
The above herbs were ground into power
(named Xiao Pi San) and mixed into paste with honey and vinegar,
then added moschus 1.2g and bnorneol 3g for external application
on the local area of hepatosplenomegaly changed once a day.
The drug was used to treat 7 cases of hepato- splenomegaly,
4 cases of which were remarkable efficacy, 1 case improved
and 2 cases were inefficacy.
