Sources:The
root of Patrinia villosa (Thunb.) Juss. Family Valerianaceae.
Constituents:
Containing saponin, villoside, morroniside, loganin, inosiotol,
oleanolic acid, palmitic acid, etc.
Actions: The hot
water infusion of whole plant of the herb has 50%~70% inhibitory
rates against JTC-26 cells, The hot water infusion of root
of the herb has 98.2% inhibitory rate against JTC-26 cell,
but did not inhibit normal cell and promoted normal cells
(human fibroblast)growth to 100%. The hotwater extract of
root of the herb was injected into abdominal cavity in S180
bearing mice, the inhibiting rate was 57.4%.
Indications:It
could be used for treatment of bladder, cervical, intestianl
cancer, etc.
(1)The decoction of the two herbs Herba
Agrimoniae 50g , Herba Patriniae 50g was orally taken daily
to treat 2 cases of cervical carcinoma, the clincal result:1
cases was remarkable effect and 1 case was remission,. Kun
Ming Medical Collage reported that the decoction of the herbs
was taken to treat 4 cases of rectal cancer and carcinoma
of anal canal, the clincal result showed that the remarkable
effect, effectiveness and remission were one case of each.
Observation of immunologic function of the patients showed
that lymphocyte transformation remarkably raised, the cancer
cells were disintegration, karyorrhxis, necrosis and fibroplastic
proliferation by pathological examination, hemolglobin and
white blood cell count increased in varying degrees.

Herba Galii Teneri 60g
Herba Solani Lyrati 60g
Herba Patriniae 30g
Herba Rohaeae Japonicae 30g
Fructus Polygoni Orientalis 15g
Fructus Bruceae 15 grain
The decoction of the herbs (Fructus Bruceae
preparing capsules) was taken , divided into 2 times daily
combined with point injected drugs with small dose to treat
51 cases of intestinal cancer.The clincal result showed that
effectiveness were in 34 cases, ineffectiveness were in 17
cases , the total effective rate was 66.7%.
