Sources:The
root and whole plant of Patrinia heterophylla Bge.
Family Valerianaceae.
Constituents:
Containing volatile oil, organic acid, saponins, tannin, carbohydrate
and trace alkaloid, etc.
Actions: In vitro
anti-cancer test including methylene blue test tube method,
eosin staning method, cytomrphologic method (in vitro and
vivo) showed that the extract of the herb was destructive
action against ESC cells. The herb has orally taken, it has
remarkable inhibitory action against EAC. The preparation
of the herb was administered by ip or s. c to have inhibitory
effect against EAC solid tumor. By i. p. the inhibiting tumor
rates were 82% and 78%. By s.c. the inhibiting tumor rate
was 64%. Both were statistical significance. The preparation
adminstered by locally injection into tumor has also inhibitory
effect. The water extract of the herb injected into the tumor
of S180 , the inhiting rate was 62.5%. Electron microscopic
observation showed that the prepartion of the herb has cytotoxic
effect and enhances phagocytic activity and cytocidal action
of macrophages.
Indications:It
was used to treat gastric, liver, early cervical cancer and
leukemia, etc.
The herb was used to treat 28 cases of
acute or chronic leukemia, CR was in 2 cases and other cases
have also responses in various degrees. In differet types
of leukemia, the effect of chronic granulocytic leukemia was
the lowest.
