Sources:The
roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. Family Ranunculaceae.
Constituents:
Containing paconiflorin, volatile oils, tannin, resin etc.
Actions: The 70%
alcohol extract of peony has a obvivous inhibtive action on
Sarcoma-180. The n-butyl alcohol and water extract of peony
has killing action on HL-60 cells (human promyelocytic leukemia)at
a dose of 10ug/ml.
Indications:
Its compound prescription is used for the nasopharyngeal carcinoma,
hepatocarcinoma, cervical carcinoma therapy.

The composite prescription combined with
radiotherapy was used for treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma
in 31 cases,the survival rates in 3 years and 5 years were
48.4% and 42.3% respectively, however single radiotherapy
used for treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in 26 cases
were 41.9% and 30.8% respectively.

The decoction of above herbs was administered
oraly, one dose divided to two portions, twice a day. The
coure of treatment is two months. The prescription was used
to treat 206 cases of thyroid cancers. The results showed
that complete remission was in 49 cases, 58 cases were remarkably
effective, 62 cases were effective, 37 cases were ineffective.
The total effective rate was 82%.
