Actions: Cantharidin
or the abstracted material of the insect was effctive
against S180 and L2 tumors the inhibiging rates were 35%~46%
and 38%~66%, the prolonged survival rate on HepA was 65%~208%,the
cured rate was 43%~71%. The derivatives of cantharidin was
effective against cancers, such as sodium cantharidinate was
effective against gela cell line, CaEs-17 human esophageal
cancer cell line and BEL-7402 human liver cancer cell line.
Indications:In
clinic, cantharidin could beused for treatment of liver, esophageal
and skin cancers. More than 800 cases of primary liver cancer
patients were treated mainly with the preparation of cantharidin,
the effective rates were 40%~60%,the symptoms improved, life
span prolonged and the tumor size was reduced in part cases,
in most cases,
the WBC counts were not decreased. After cantharidin treatment,
the survival rate for one year was 12.7%. 27 cases of stage
II and III primary liver cancer treated with cantharidin (po.or
iv.), the total effective rate was 51.8%,the life span for
one year was in 3 cases, the average life span was 165.5 days.93
cases of stage II and III primary liver cancer, treated with
tablets of cantharidin for full one month or the total dose
was up to more than 60mg, all of the patients,their symptoms
were improved and the life span was prolonged, among them
the significant effective cases were 14, the effective cases
were 56,ineffective cases were 23, the total effective rate
was 75%.Methylcantharidinimide administered orally 100mg,
4 times a day, after 3 months, the dose decreased to half,
15 cases of primary liver cancer patients were treated, among
them 10 cases survived for more than half year, 3 cases survived
for more than one year, 3 cases survived for more than one
year,the average life span was 8.4 months,the effciency was
better than 5-FU.The drug was administered for long term,
no digestive tract stimulating action and WBC decreasing adverse
reactions were observed, and on bloody urine and kidney toxic
reactions were found, so, it was suitable for long term use.
