Sources:The
roots of Lithospermum erythrorhizon Sieb.et Zucc. Family
Boraginaceae.
Constituents:
Containing shikonin, acetylshikonin 3,4 -dimethylamyene-3-acylshikonin,
polysaccharide, naphthoquine components.
Actions: In vitro
shikonin inhibited the growth of BGC 832 cells (human gastric
cancer cell line)and ECa cells (human esophageal cancer cell
line)with a dose of 3~5mg/ml, The inhibitory rates were 64%
and 67% resp- ectively. Anticancer test in vivo showed that
the component A of the herb (containing parent shikonin) was
effective against U14 and S37 tumors on mice, W256 tumor on
rat with a dose of 15~50mg/kg im.once daily for 10 days. The
inhibitory rates were 52%, 60% and 52.5% respctively. The
drug also has effect against EAC with a dose of 25mg/kg, the
life span prolo- nging rate was 60%. In addition, shikonin
was able to inhibit growth of S180 ascite carcinoma with a
dose of 5~10mg/kg and prolonged the life span of tumor bearing
mice, it has radiosensitizing effect against hepatoma and
Lewis lung carcinoma on mice. It was able to delav the tumor
growth and prolon ged the life span of the tumor bearing mice.
Indications:
It could be used for treatment of nasopharyngeal, lung cancer,
choriarcinoma and eyelids tumor, etc.
(1)Zi Xing oral liquid was taken to 19
cases of advanced lung cancer for one month (Zi Xing oral
liquid was composed of the naphthaquinone components and ginsenoside.
The naphthaquinone was a main component and the content was
1.0mg/ml). The clincal results showed that the effective rate
(tumor size decreased over 25%) was 63.3% and 1 year survival
rate was 4703%. The immunologic function of the patients were
enhanced (such as lymphocyte transformation rate,NK cells
activity and IL-2 leve, etc).
The syrupus of the herb (the content
of the herb was 16g/100ml)was taken to 2 cases of tonsi carcinoma,
4 cases of gastric cancer, 1 case of nasopharyngeal carcinoma,
thyroid adnocarcinoma and metastasis aquamous epithelioma,
a better clinical efficacy was obtaied.
