Sources:The
fruits of Ligustrum lucidum Ait. Family Oleaceae .
Constituents:
Containing nuzhenide, hydroxy-nuzhenide, 10-hydroxy oleanolic
acid, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid,etc.
Actions:The administration
of the herb had 49.2% inhiting rate against U14 tumor, with
a dose of 60g/kg p. o. day. Tests in vitro showed that water
extract of the herb has a cytotoxic action on HL-60 cells
line with concentr- ation of 10ug/ml for 2 days. The alcohol
extract (concentration of of lympho- cytes and PHA (1:500)
for 72 hours or PHA (1:100) for 56 hours, it in creas- ed
human lymphocyte transformation rate about 33%.
Indications:
It cold be used for assistant treatment of carcinoma of urinary
bladder, thyroid cancer, lung and gastric cancer, lymphoma
and leukemia, etc.
(1) Leukopenia: 100% injection of the
herb prevented of treated the leukopenia in patients suffering
from cancer due to chemotherapy and radiotherapy with a dose
of 2 to 4 ml im once or twice daily. The white blood cells
of the patients recovered to normal level, so that chemotherapy
and radiotherapy could be continued.
(2) Immunotherapy: the graft versus host
reaction (GVH) on rats induced by the lymphocytes in 19 malignant
tumor patients was 26 mm3. After treating with water extract
of the herb, the GVH was 118mm3,increasing 4 times and reaching
normal level. The result suggested that the herb can increase
the T cells activity in malignant tumor patients.
