Sources:The
seeds and branches of Juglans mandshurica Maxim. Family
Juglandaceae.eae.
Constituents:Containing
polysaccharides, naphthol quinone, benzoaric acid, hydrojuglone,
tannin and gallate, etc.
Actions:In vitro,
the cell killing rates of naphthoquinone against S180 and
EAC cancer cells were 60.5%~100%. In vivo, the alcohlic extract
of the seeds of the herb administered (50g/kg for 7 days ip.),
the inhibiting rates against ESC and S180 were 45%~71.6% (P<0.01)
and 37%~55.8% (P<0.05) respectively. Crude naphthoquinone
I, II its inhibiting rate against S180 was 57.6%(P<0.01)
Crude naphthoquinone III acted on ESC, the inhibiting rate
was 33.7%~72.8%(P<0.05). Benzoaric acid acted on ESC, the
inhibiting rate was 48.4%~64.1%(P<0.05). Polysaccharides
acted on S180, the ingibiting rate was 59.3%~70%(P<0.01).
The extract of bark of seeds (10~20/kg*10ig.) acted on S180,
the inhibiting rate was 36.7%~59.2%.
Indications:
It can be used for treatment of esophageal, gastric, cardiac
and lung cancer.
The alcoholic extract of unmature fruit
used orally once 10~20ml for one year on advanced esophageal,
cardiac cancers and in some patients after surgery, the effective
rate was 53%, for the earlier stage cancer patients, the effective
rate was 76%, and no adverse reactions were found. The green
bark of fruit, its alcoholic extract injection preparation
was administered (im. 2ml/ampule, containing crude herb 4g)
once 2~4ml, 1~2 times a day, for treatment of 19 cases of
esophageal and cardiac cancer patients, the symptoms of the
patients were improved, part remission of cancer patients
obtained, the WBC and platelets counts increased, a better
short time effect was observed. The injection preparation
used for the patients in whom the WBC counts were less than
4000 by chemotherapy or radiotherapy, among 71 cases, the
effective patients (higher than 4000) were 68 cases, the effective
rate was 95.7%.
