Sources:The
root or Gossypium hirsutum L. Family Maluaceae.
Constituents:
Containing aspargine, gossypol, arginine, resins, etc.
Actions: The experiments
in vitro showed that gossypol has an inhibitory action on
EAC, YAS, W256 and P388 murine tumors. Melanoma is much higher
sensitive to the drug. Gossypol could inhibit human cancer
of pancreas.
Indications:Gossypium
hirsutum L. was used to treat carcinoma of urinary bladder,
carcinoma of stomach , carcinoma of esophagus, malignant lymphoma,
liver cancer and so on.

The composite prescription was taken
with decoction one dose a day to treat 22 cases of advanced
carcinoma of stomach, 6 cases were remarkable efficacy, 9
cases were remission recently. The total effective rate was
68.1%
