Sources:The
leaf and fruit of Diospyros lotus L. Famliy Ebenaceae.
Constituents:
Containing delphinine, kaempferol, catechol, tannin, vitamins,
flavonoids, etc.
Actions: The preventive
effect of Diospyros lotus against forestomach and esophageal
carinoma induced by nitrosamine in mice. The mice were divided
into two groups.In the experimental group, the alcoholic,
extract of herb was given to mice, 10mg each monse, 6 times
a week, the total therapeutic period was 14 weeks and on the
2nd~6th week, the drug was taken combined with nitrosamine
omce every other day,and on 7th week the nitrosamine stopped.In
the control group, the mice were taken nitrosamine only as
treatment group. Finally, on the 14th week, sacrificed all
animals, to taken the samples of stomach and esophagus for
pathologic examination.
According to the results of twice
examinations showed that the carcinogenic rate of stomach
and esophagus was 40%~48.7% in the control group. But in the
test group, the carcinogenic rate was only 9.1%~11.6%, and
the total inhibitory rate reached oved 70%~80%.
Indications:
The herb had been made to a tea preparation and
used for prevention of esophageal cancer.
