Sources:The
tuberous root of Cynanchum bungei Decne. Family Asclepiadaceae.
Constituents:Containing
phosholipids (phosphaidyplcholine, phosphati- dylethanolamine,phosphatidylinositos),
C21-steroid saponins, glycoside.
Actions:In vitro
the glycoside of the herb has a direct cytocidal effect on
EAC and ascitic S180 cells. The glycoside could inhibit the
DAN synthesis of LLC cells (the cells of G1 phase increased
and S phase decreased). Tests in vivo demonstrated that the
glycoside was effective against Lewis lung carcinoma , it
increased the efficacy of CTX on the carcinoma. The phospholipids
of the herb has effect on increasing peripheral T cell count
and promoting lymphocyte transformation on mice.
Indications:It
could be used for treatment of breast and urinary cancers.

The pills preparation of above herbs
was taken to 134 cases of breast cancer (in 16 cases, the
tumors had been resected, part cases combined with chemotherapy
and /or radiotherapy), 3g/once, twice daily. The results showed
that the survival rate for 5 years was 88.8%.
