anticancer priciple b-elemen
Actions:In Studies
in vitro showed that b-elemene was effective against Hela,
HL-60, K562 cancer cell lines; the IC50 was 37.3ug/ml, 27.5ug/ml
and 81.0ug/ml respectively. The TC50 was 20~45ug/ml to lung
carcinoma cell lines of Anip-937, A549, SPC-A, LAX, H128 and
SPC. Experiment in vivo indicated that b-elemene was intraperitoneally
injected with a dose 15~60mg/kg for 7~8 days to EAC, ARS,
S180, S37,L1210 and YAS(rat) murine tumars, the inhibitory
rates or life prolongating rates were over 75%.
Indications:
For cancerous hydrothorax and ascites.
(1)Malignant hydrothorax:phase II clinical
trials for 163 cases, the patients were drawn hydrothorax,
then the emulsion of b-elemene, with a dose of 200mg/m2 was
injected into the pleural cavity, after l week, the patients
were carried on re-examination by X-ray or ultrasonic scanning.
If the hydrothorax increased, the patients might be taken
the above dose to treat again. The results showed that CR
in 34 cases, PR in 88 cases, with a total effective rate of
74.8%. Phase III clinic trials for 313 cases, and CR in 98
cases, PR in 145 cases, with the total effective rate of 77.6%.
(2)Malignant ascites:phase II clinical
trials for 84 cases, the patients with a dose of 400mg/m2
were injected into intraperitoneal cavity. 1~2 times a week,
for 2 weeks, then withdrawal. The results showed that CR in
32 cases, PR in 31 cases, the total effective rate was 75%.
Phase III clinical trials for 171 cases, CR in 39 cases, PR
in 74 cases, with a total effective rate of 66.1%. The sied
effect of B-elemene emulsion not only was mild but it also
could relieve the cancerous pain and elevated leukocytes.
