Sources:The
rhizoma of Coptis chinensis Farnch. Family Ranuncuaceae.
Constituents:
Containing alkaloids:berberine, copticine, methyl-copticine,
magnoflorine, etc.
Actions:Experiments
in vitro proved that the water extract of Rhizoma Coptidis
with a dose of 500ug/ml could inhitibit JTC-26 cell line,
with a rate of 100%. In addition, it also inhibited Ehrlich's
ascite carcinoma and lymphoma NK/LY cell lines.

prescription for esophageal carcinoma:
Rhizoma Coptidis 6g
Herba Scutellariae Barbataae 60g
Herba Taraxaci 30g
Rhizoma Dioscoreae Bulbiferae 30g
Rhizoma Pinelliae Zingiberis 9g
Fructus Trichosanthis 15g
The above herbs could be increased or
decreased according to the symptoms and were taken in decoction
one dosage daily.
The prescription was used for treatment
of 25 cases of esophageal carcinoma, and the results showed
that 6 cases of them were remarkable efficacy, efficacy in
9 cases, inefficacy in 10 cases, the total effecttive rate
was 60%.
