root of Codonopsis pilosula (Franch.) Nannf. Family
Companulaceae.
Constituents:
Containing taraxeryl acetate, friededlin, saponin, inulin,
etc.
Actions: Inulin
was capable of elevating the phagocytic function of mice and
had some immuno-enhancement effect.
Indications:
Composite prescription (Shen Qi Bai Shi Tang) for
stomach cancer:
Radix Codonopsis 15g
Radix Astragali 15g
Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae 10g
Herba Solam Lyrati 30g
Herba Hedyotis Diffusae 30g
Herba Agrimoniae 30g
Semen Coicis 30g
Rhizoma Paridis 18g
Herba Saluiae Chinensis 18g
The decoction of above herbs was taken twice a day. The prscription
was used to treat 22 cases of advanced stomach cancer, 6 cases
survived for over 1 year, 9 cases survived for 3 years and
7 cases survived for 5~8 years.
This formula combined with chemotherapy
was used for treatment of advanced stomach cancer in 34 cases,
among them 10 cases of which survived for cases over 1 year,
14 cases were 3 years and 10 cases were 5~8 years.
