whole plant of Catharanthus roseus(L.) G Don Family
Loganiaceae.
Constituents:Containing
alkanloids such as: vinblastine (VLB), vincrstine (VCR), formyl
leurosine, etc.
Actions:The alcoholic
and hot water extraction products, their inhibiting rates
against S180 were 100% and 95.7%, VLB at dose of 0.05~0.1mg/kg
was significantly effective against L1210, P1534, AKR, EAC,S180,Freund
cancer and spontaneous or transplanted breast tumor models.VCR's
antic ancer effect was higher than VLB, and it has inhibiting
action against Ridgeway oesteosarcoma, Mecca lymphosarcoma
and X5563 myeloma. Vindesine's anticancer action was similar
with VCR, and still has anticanc- er effect against B16, Mardner
lymphoma and 755 breast tumor models.
Indications:It
was used for the treatment of breast, ovary, lung cancers
and leukemias. VP regimen (VCR 1.5mg/m2 iv onve a week; prednisone
40mg/m2 /a day) was commonly used for the inducting remission
treatment of lymphocytic leukemia in children, its CR rate
was up to 85%, such as :21 cases of acute granulocyte leukemia
patients were treated,the result showed CR 16, PR 3, NC 2.
The average time for reaching CR was 4.5 weeks. COP regimen
(VCR, CTX, Prednisone) treated 50 cases of malignant lymphoma,
the result showed CR 10, PR 21, MR 15, NC 4, the total effective
rate was 92%. 32 cases of advanced esophageal cancer patients
were treated with VCR, DDP, pingyangmycin regimen, the result
showed CR 3, PR 12, MR 8 , NC 9, the total tffective rate
was 71.8%.
