Sources:The
flowers of Carthamus tinctorius L. Family Compositae.
Constituents:Containing
carthamin, carthamone, neo-carthamin, etc.
Actions: Decoction
of the herb has inhibitory action against JTC-26 and S180,
the inhibitory rate was above 90% for JTC-26 In vitro test
showed that the decoction has inhibitory action against leukemia
cell.
Indications:It
was used for treatment of cervical, esophageal and pancreatic
carcinoma.
(1) Experimental formula (Shan Jia Long Kui Tang) for pancreatic
carcinoma:

Decoction of the herbs was taken once daily to treat 3 cases
of advanced carcinoma of head of pancreas.The clinical result
showed that survival times of 2 cases combined with 5-fu therapy
was 26 and 45 months and the survival time of other case only
took the decoction was 52 months.

Decoction of the herbs was taken once
daily divided into 2 times combined with chemotherapy to treat
10cases of multiple myeloma, the clinical result showed that
remarkable effect, remission and stabilizationwere in 2, 3
and 5 cases respectively, the longest survival time of one
case was 5 years.
