Sources:The fruit of Brucea jauanica (L.) Merr. Family Simarubaceae.

Constituents:Containing fat oils (glyceroltrioleate, oleic acid, linoleic acid),alkaloids, quassin, brusatol, bruceine A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and so on.etc.

Actions:In vitro, the water extract, its inhibiting rate against JTC-26 cell line was moer than 90%, at concentration 5 mg/ml, the HL-60 cells were killed. The quassin from alcoholic extract was quite effective against W256, P388, LLC and B16 murine tumors. Its oil emulsion was effective on G0, S and G2 phase cells, so it belongs to non cell cycle specific drug.

Indications:It could be used for treatment of esophageal, cardiac, intestine, cervical and skin cancers. The oil emulsion 10% 4ml (equal to crude herb 0.4g) im. injected. total 3000 amps or 4~8ml adding 5% glucose 500ml ivdrip, once a day, total 800 amps, total dose up to 220g, 8 cases of brain metastasis from lung cancer were treated, the reults showed that 4 cases were stable, l cases of intracranial hypertension was relieved, 3 cases were partly relieved, 4 cases were significantly relieved.If the large dose was used (2~3g/d), the efficacy was better. By using super selective liver artery intubation method to inject the oleoemulsion of Brucea javanica iodipin and adriamycin super liquified emulsion (YLAE), 76 cases of moderate and advanced liver cancer patients were treated (stage ¢ó 10 cases, stage ¢ô 66 cases ), since the oleo-emulsion of Brucea javanica has anticancer, embolism, carrier and emulsification multiple actions, so, the adriamycim was completely involved in oil phase. Due to the double carrier function of iodipin and oil-emulsion of Brucea javanica, the adriamycin can be stayed in tumor area for longer time, and slowly released. So, in tumor tissues, higher concentration of the drug can be kept for a long period of time. The results showed that 15 cases of big liver cancers (the tumor size occuppied more than 70% of the whole liver), after treatment, the tumor size was reduced to 50%, 7 cases got phases ¢ò surgery operattion. The survival rate of 6 months was 70%, of l year was 44%, of 2 years was 18%, 5 cases survived for 2 years, l case for 3 years.
