Sources:The
rhizoma of Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. Farmily
Compositae.
Constituents:
Containing atractylol, atractylon, atractylenolide, volatile
oil, etc.
Actions:In vivo
test showed that the volatile oil has inhibitory action against
S180 and EAC murine tumors, the inhibitory rates were 31%~49%
for S180.The volatile oil has cytocidal effect against EAC
cells in vitro. Atractylenolide B also has inhibiting tumor
effect for S180 in vivo and for human esophageal
cancer cells in vitro, the inhibitory rate was more than 30%.
Indications:It
was used for treatment of gastric, esophageal, liver and lung
cancer, etc.
(1) Distilled liquid of the herb used to treat 17 cases of
advanced esophageal cancer with iv. administration. The clinical
result showed that remarkable effect was in 2 cases and effecticeness
was in 8 cases.

Decoction of the herbs was taken to treat
123 cases of primary or secondary hepatocarcinoma. The clinical
result showed that more than 1 year of survival time was in
40 cases and survival rate of one year was 32.5%.
