Sources:The
whole plant of Artemisia annua L. Family Compositae.
Constituents:
Containing qinghaosu, qinghao acid, qinghao lactone, flavone,
caumarin, volatile oil, etc.
Actions: Sodium
salt of qinghao lactone has cytocidal effect against HeLa
(human cervical carcinoma), DNE2 and SUNE-1 (human nasopharyngeal
poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma) cell lines,
IC50 was 42.7ug- /ml, 101.6ug/ml and 1.29ug/ml respectively
in vitro. In vivo tests showed that qinghao lactone sodium
has 34%~53%, 41%~49% and 54%~58% inhibit- ing rates against
S180, Heps and reticulosarcoma with 100mg/kg per 4 days for
3 times iv, the sodium salt has 84.3% and 71.4% inhibiting
rates against L2 with a dose of 150mg/kg and 300mg/kg, 10
times ig., CNE2 tu- mor-bearing nude mice was taken qinghao
lactone sodium with 100mg/kg and 150mg/kg once daily i.g.
4 times in a course of treatment, for two cour- ses, there
were 25% and 42% inhibiting rates, It has 30% and 505 inhibi-
ting rates against SUNE-1 transplanted in nude mice with same
dosage.
Indications:It
was used for treatment of osteocarcinoma, intestinal cancer.
nasopharyngeal carcinoma, etc.

carcinoma:
Herba Scutellariae Indicae 60g
Herba Hedyotis Diffusae 60g
Herba Artemisiae Annuae 60g
Fructus Glochidii Puberi 60g
Radix Zanthoxyli Nitidi 60g
Mel fit
Juice of the herbs, mistura was prepared
by adding strong tea and mel. The mistura was taken orally
once daily combined otherwith other therapy to treat 15 cases
of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The tumors in majority of the
cases shrunk or disappeared, the symptoms relieved, although,
they have remarkable curative effect but did not prevent recurrence.
