Armadillidae.
Constituents:
Contains maily protein and formic acid.
Actions: The insect
has the analgesic effect.An experiment showed that the mice
were taken 1:4 Pillbug decoction of water, the analgesic effects
could be maintained for 2 hours, although the effect was coming
later than Dolantin (0.5%,ip).
Indications:
It could be used for the pain of cancers.
(1)It was used for treatment of 6 cases of patients suffered
from advanced hepatic carcinoma with severe pain in the hepatic
(dried Pillbug 60g, decocted in adequate water two times becoming
240ml, It was taken separately four times a day orally); after
taking the drug pain began to ease up markedly and maintained
for 2~4 hours.
(2) Another report showed that 32 cases
of serious cancer-pain patients were treated with above method
or apply infusion of Pillbug on painful location (dried Pillbug
120g in spirits 150gml for 3 days, when using the infusion
was dipped with brush and spreaded on painful position, 4~6
times a day); among them 6 cases were complete remission (pain
was entirely relieved), 14 cases were moderate remission (pain
was obviously abated than pre-administration), 8 cases were
slight remission, the total effective rate was 87.5%.
