glucomannan and konjacmannan, etc.
Actinos:
Konjacmannan interfered metabolism
of cancer cells. Hot water extract of the herb has 49.8% of
inhibiting tumor growth rate against S180. Refined powder
of the herb has inbihitory action against S180, ESC, HepS
murine tumors. With a dose of 25,50 and 110mg/kg daily ip
for 8 days, inhi- bit ory rates for S180 were 65.375, 58.755
and 57.20% and for ESC ig, the inhibitory rates were 50%,
54.025 and 42.86%. With a dose of 50 and 100mg/kg ig daily
for 8 days, the inhibitory rates were 36.62% and 34.075 against
HepS.It has remarkable diference compared with contrast (P<0.01
). Glucomannan has inhibitory action against spontaneous liver
tumors on mice and dimethyl hydrazine induced carcinoma on
rats. The refined powd- er has remarkable inhibitory action
against N-methyl-N-nitrosoguanidine induced lung cancer.
Indications:
(1) Put 60g of the herb into 20
cm inestinal canal of animal and tied up both ends of the
canal. The canal was boiled in water for 4 hours and then
was taken to treat colonic carcinoma.
(2) Experimental formula for carcinoma
of parotid, breast cancer, lymphoma and intracranial tumor:

(3) Experimental formula for esophageal
cancer:

The herbs were decocted for more
than 2 hours and the decoction was taken daily. Shanghai Tianping
hospital used the formula and combined with low dose chemotherapy
by point-injection to treat 56 cases of esopha- geal cancer.
The clinical result showed that effectiveness was in 36 cases,
inefficacy was in 20 cases and the total effective rate was
64%.
