Constituents:
Containing allicin,allitin cycloallin, etc.
Actions: In vitro
test indicated that allicin has remarkable inhibitory action
against JTC-26 leukemia cell line, the inhibitory rates were
705 to 90%. In vivo test indicated that allicin has inhibitory
action against various form tum- ors in animals with 50 to
100mg/kg ip or by injecting into tumor , theinhibito- ry rate
were 40% to 50%. The other test showed that volatile oil of
the herb has remarkable inhibitory action against reticulum
cell sarcoma.To feed fe- male C3H/He mice with the herbs was
able to completely inhibit occurrenc- e of their breast carcinoma.
Allicin has inhibitory effect against human gast- ric cancer
cell line MGC80-3 that transplant to nude mice with 15mg/kg
ip daily for 11 days, the inhibitory rate was 58.31% (P<0.01).Administration
of 7.5mg/kg allicin combined with MMC did not enhance the
curative effect of MMC, But allicin was able to lessen toxic
effect of MMC , in which platelet count and macropage phagocytic
function raised.
Indications:
(1) Cancer prevention: the herb was able
to reduce production of nitrate and nitrite in stomach and
therefore the herb has action for gastric cancer prevention.
People that in Cang Shan County, Shandong Province the death
rate of gastric cancer patients was 3.45 per 100000 but people
in ixia County was 40.03 per 100000. The test showed that
content of NO2 in gastric juice of the people in Cang Shan
County was lower than the people in Qixia County.
(2) Injectio (2~5ml/ampule was equal
to 2~5g the herb) of the herb used to treat 21 cases of nasopharyngeal
carcinoma with 2 to 5ml twice daily. The clinical result showed
that the tumor size in 20 cases was remarkable decreased and
the symptoms of the most patients were improved or disappeared.
